I don’t know about you, but lately, I’ve been thinking about space. You know, stars, planets, galaxies, black holes. It kinda has me in the mood to listen to prog metal. Wait, what’s this? Everyone’s favorite prog metal instrumentalist Sithu Aye has announced a new album on the way? Well, this is just perfect!

The fourth studio album Homebound will be available December 17th. Homebound will be the follow-up project to 2016’s Set Course for Andromeda as well as Senpai EP II: The Noticing.

In addition, Sithu Aye has released a single from Homebound called “Primary Ignition”. It’s got one of Sithu‘s more playful melodies, but the mood is still a bit somber and emotional. I especially enjoy the thumping rhythm that keeps his soloing tethered to the beat. As always, there are plenty of backing tracks and details that can be found. The way the song is equalized, I can pick up a different tune with each listen. That alone is what’s kept me coming back to “Primary Ignition” thus far.

Homebound is available for pre-order on Bandcamp, but certain Patreon supporters have early access to the album. Keep an eye on Sithu Aye on Facebook.
