For all the uncountable nuances of their music, Opeth have always had a very down-to-earth approach to their live shows: just five members and a stage, though seasoned experts may already know that this is something of tradition in the prog syndicate. Anyway, Opeth‘s music, no matter which chapter in their epic saga it hails from, speaks for itself, and a song played live resonates with every morsel of quality as it did when created in the studio.

Anybody acquainted with previous live recordings such as The Roundhouse Tapes and In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall will be able to verify this. And therefore, a new live album, which of course will come with a revised compendium of new and old Opeth songs, is always a welcomed treat!

This particular show, which is titled Garden of the Titans, was filmed on May 11, 2017, at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado, and features a hefty dose of Opeth‘s latest album Sorceress. They also play a wealth of classics, going back as far as their third 1998 album, My Arms Your Hearse; a pleasing piece of news for fans of the rawer segment of Opeth‘s career.

Full track list is as follows:

“Sorceress”
“Ghost of Peridition”
“Demon of the Fall”
“The Wilde Flowers”
“In my Time of Need”
“The Devil’s Orchard”
“Cusp of Eternity”
“Heir Apparent”
“Era”
“Deliverance”

As this sampler featuring “Sorceress” proves, the band have lost none of their edge. Garden of the Titans: Live at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre will be released on DVD and Blu Ray on November 2, 2018. You can pre-order now via Moderbolaget Records and Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Be sure to follow Opeth on Facebook to keep up with any news that may arise.
