If you’ve been following the cutting edge of jazz in the past years, then it’s time to get excited. Tenor saxophonist and rising star Kamasi Washington is still hitting the tarmac in support of his sophomore LP, Heaven and Earth. Today on Twitter, he announced that he will be supported by both singer/songwriter Victory and fellow jazzers Butcher Brown on the tour. While the supporting acts will only be performing certain US and Canada dates, Washington has already toured in Europe, South Korea, and Japan this year.

Washington is, as mentioned before, currently supporting his 2018 double album Heaven and Earth. It was released late last month, and we’ve loved it ever since. Appearing in addition to Washington himself will be Victory Boyd, who has also performed alongside the likes of renowned bandleader Jon Batiste and released her debut album The Broken Instrument in June 2018, as well as Butcher Brown based out of Virginia, who describe themselves as ‘garage punk jazz funk’. They’ve been consistently releasing music since 2012, including records such as All Purpose Music, Grown Folks, and Live from Vagabond.
