Slow Crush have just announced that they will be embarking on their first ever North American tour, on which they will be accompanied by Grivo. The bands will be making nearly two dozen stops across cities in the USA. Slow Crush are an up-and-coming band from Belgium. They play a very interesting mixture of shoegaze, post-metal, and post-rock slathered with dream pop inflections. This is quite a treat for those in search of tunes that teleport them outside of any known realm into a soft and vibrant plane of ethereal beauty. While Slow Crush don’t have a deep repertoire yet, the little they have put together makes up for what it lacks in runtime in emotive and textural depth.
Grivo are a band hailing from Austin, Texas. What they play isn’t far off from what their tourmates offer, making this line-up a perfect match. Grivo also concoct a very dreamy blend of styles, mixing post-rock and dream pop with some noisy tendencies and a more rock-oriented delivery. They rely on structure over texture, but only just enough to make this noticeable when putting them in a context with Slow Crush. Nevertheless, they’re equally dreamy and ethereal, making for what I think will be some really awesome gigs.
