Come November, some formidably deep sounds of the down-tempo, post-metal variety will be hitting Europe, as Amenra, E-L-R and Ylva join forces once again, this time for a 17-date tour schedule.
Amenra are a highly renowned force in slow burning, rage-spattered and indomitably powerful heaviness who gained a momentous following along the breadth of their Mass (I-VI) albums. Across an emotionally consistent tempo, their music siphons through the eerily tender to the all-out enraged, and is a tough act to match in the patiently foreboding and borderline cinematic metal syndicate.
Slightly less known, but equally engaging are their two support acts. Ylva are a similarly minded outfit from Australia whose thunderous 2017 record Meta still eagerly requires a follow up, which we can only hope arrives off the back of this tour. Listen, and you’ll hear why.
Second in support are the Switzerland based E-L-R, a three piece project who have maintained a consistent road presence in the wake of their fully entrancing In Splendour & Sedation demo record. Given their enduring passion and the quality of their music, this is a project which deserves to be taken to the next level.
Listen to each of these bands side by side, and you’ll understand why sharing one stage is such a good idea. Though unique in their delivery, all three minds harbor a like-minded, soul-driven and bone-crushing intent with their music. Anyone interested in attending a show from this tour can expect the following in plentiful doses: Noise, hypnosis, your money’s worth, and more noise… the really bassy kind.
