Ready to see a great prog metal touring package? Leprous are going to tour Europe this fall, supported by Swedish prog rockers Port Noir and multinational post/prog metal collective The Ocean! Unfortunately, though, The Ocean won’t be playing any German dates, while Port Noir will be present at each show.
It’s been a while since the last Leprous tour; the Norwegian quintet only did two full tours with their Icelandic partners in crime, Agent Fresco, in recent memory. So this time we will get some welcome variation, while Agent Fresco might finish their highly anticipated third full-length album and go on a headline run of their own. Likewise, Port Noir haven’t been touring for a while, but are known for their aesthetic live shows and catchy song structures. The band just released their new album The New Routine last Friday via InsideOut. Their mixture of modern prog rock and electronic synth elements truly is something unique, and a good match to Leprous‘ poppier songs!
The Ocean will wrap up their album cycle in support of Phanerozoic I: Paleozoic with this tour. This also means that they might be touring on its second half soon! We can only speculate why The Ocean won’t be playing any of the German shows with Leprous; personally, I could imagine that it’s due to a planned German headline run later this year, where the band could potentially focus on performing Phanerozoic in its entirety. But as I said, we don’t know anything concrete yet.
Leprous stated that they’ll be playing a fresh and different show, and that they’re ‘aiming to take the performance to new heights!’, whatever they mean by that! Anyway, in case you have been curious about it: Raphael Weinroth-Browne will be accompanying the band on this tour as well. He seems to have become a full-time touring member since the release of Leprous‘ latest album Malina in 2017. Maybe we’ll even get to hear some new material as well!
