Ever since we soaked in the soulful rays of Leon Bridges exceptional 2018 record A Good ThingEverything Is Noise has been eagerly awaiting the next audio delight that he’ll unleash upon us. Much the same could be said about the amazing Khruangbin, who delighted us with their album from the same year, Con Todo El Mundo, a record that saw the band develop their signature psychedelic sound evermore. Therefore, news that Khruangbin and Leon Bridges are due to release a split EP in February 2020, was met with many capslocks messages and much rejoicing.

Complimenting that fine bit of news, was the first single called “Texas Sun”, a track that immediately sets out the kind of collaboration we can expect from the two artists, whilst also giving you a reason to get up in these cold winter days. Whilst Khruangbin do still litter their music with amazing motifs like their own records, they dial it back so Leon Bridges‘ guitar can walk the walk too, as well as his excellent voice. The lyrical content, as with much of Bridges content is full of emotion and happiness, and an obvious home-sickness.

As both artists originate from the most famous southern state, the name of the EP will fittingly be called Texas Sun. And the best news – we don’t even have to wait long for the remaining three tracks. The EP drops on February 7, via Dead Oceans in collaboration with Columbia Records and Night Time Stories Ltd. Of the record, bassist Laura Lee of Khruangbin said it feels like a cross-country drive across Texas to her, and hopes that listeners can join her in that headspace.

As you might imagine, pre-orders for the record are now live. Be sure to snag yourself a copy! Find the socials and Bandcamp links below, and let us know what you think of this exciting collaboration.
