Omnium Gatherum is one of my favorite Finnish bands, and one of the standard-bearers for melodic death metal in the past years, at least in my opinion. Their use of keys and the dichotomy of their generally upbeat melodies paired with Jukka Pelkonen’s vocals sets them apart from many of their peers. This new track is a bit on the safe side, but still features some nice movements and great guitar work. We do get the slightly over-produced choral vocals that reminded me of “Frontiers”, and the video is awash with bright colors. Sure it’s cheesy, but I enjoy this more lighthearted approach from time to time.
You can already pre-order album bundles through the band’s storefront, including some interesting vinyl variants. You can also follow the band over on Facebook to stay current with all things Omnium Gatherum – news, tour info, and new songs!
Not long ago we brought you the news that Finnish melodic death metallers Omnium Gatherum had announced a new record. The Burning Cold will be released August 31 through Century Media, and will consist of eleven brand new tracks. Well, today we finally get a taste of that new record! The band has released the new single “Gods Go First”, along with a video. This is the second song in the tracklisting, and clocks in just shy of five minutes. As expected, it’s a polished, melodic powerhouse of a song. Check it below!
