If you paid any attention at all to the black metal scene in recent years, you undoubtedly stumbled across Zhrine from Reykjavík, Iceland before. Their 2016 début Unortheta was a grimly atmospheric, dissonant slab of pure blackened fury, and it garnered them quite a bit of attention upon release. Today they announced that they will be coming to lay waste to audiences across the European mainland in November and December, which is amazing news for people who have been craving to see them conjure up their crushing dark magic on stage.
The good news don’t end there, either! Teaming up with Zhrine on this romp will be none other than their Season of Mist labelmates in Dutch experimental death metal powerhouse Ulsect, whose self-titled album found them a lot of critical acclaim last year. They too have a knack for atmospheric destruction, so be prepared for an evening of unease and dread (in the most positive sense imaginable) if you are planning to attend. You can read what Ulsect have to say about this tour below, and check out the tour dates after the jump:
‘We’re very excited to embark on this European tour alongside Icelandic label mates ZHRINE. The end of this year will see us join forces in spreading dark atmosphere and crushing dissonance to places both new and familiar. We can’t wait for this tour to commence!‘
