Guess what? Windhand are back with a brand new track called “Grey Garden” from their upcoming LP, Eternal Return. Although the record doesn’t drop until October 5, we get a taste of the new material right here, right now. “Grey Garden” mixes stoner, doom, and a hint of grunge melodicism alongside Dorthia Cottrell’s haunting vocals, and the thickest guitar tone you’re likely to hear today. Check out the song and the trippy video below!
As a fan of this style of heavy music, Windhand have risen to one of my favorite acts over the years, with Orchard being leaving quite the impression a few years ago. “Grey Garden” is a bit more concise, but as a lead single that only makes sense. Cottrell’s vocals are soothing, and the chugging rhythms are entrancing. The video is definitely steeped in psychedelic imagery and trippy visualizations that match up perfectly with the song’s vibe. I’ve watched it three times since I started writing this news article. Send help. Actually, don’t send help; I love it.
If you’re so inclined, you can pre-order Eternal Return via Relapse Records on their website. There are a plethora of vinyl variants that collectors will no doubt be snatching up soon. Be sure to swing by Windhand’s Facebook page to give them a like and follow for more news and info on the new record and touring plans!
