Mammal Hands are one of the most exciting groups in the modern jazz scene. The trio out of Norwich have put out three solid releases, starting with Animalia in 2014. Shadow Work, released last year, was one of my personal favorite albums of 2017. With releases two years in a row, I was curious if they would do a third. Well, now that question is answered as the trio announced Becoming, a new EP to release on November 2. The title track to Becoming is available to stream right here through Bandcamp:
The track runs about seven and a half minutes long and sounds just as beautiful as their previous offerings. Led by the always pleasing saxophone playing of Jordan Smart, the trio shows consistency with a sound they have honed. I for one can’t wait to hear the rest of the EP!
Believe is out November 2. Digital pre-orders are live through their long-time label Gondwana Records. There will also be a select amount of vinyl prints available at the Gondwana ten-year anniversary show this weekend in London. Whether or not they will have these available for sale elsewhere has not been said yet. Be sure to check out the new track and let us know what you think, and follow the band on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
