Welcome to the first episode of THE NOISE OF in 2026 for the last month of 2025 — it’s kind of confusing, but that’s how it is. I know I’m a bit late, but I was busy with another list. December tends to be a slow month for releases, but I was still able to find some really good and interesting albums for you to enjoy. Deal? Deal!

Isobel Waller-Bridge – Objects

December 5 // Mercury

I didn’t know that Phoebe Waller-Bridge had a sister who is a musician, let alone that she did the soundtrack for one of the best shows of all time, Fleabag. Objects is Isobel Waller-Bridge‘s second album, but unfortunately, there’s little to no buzz around it despite being fabulous.

Ólöf Arnalds – Spíra

December 5 // Bella Union

It’s a beautiful folk album, and the fact that it’s Icelandic adds an extra layer of fairy dust, as we all know. The songs are beautiful, exuding cool elegance and a warm, wholesome vibe.

Omegavortex – Diabolic Messiah of the New World Order

December 5 // Independent

It’s a ridiculous display of wrath and unhinged anger, with raw riffs and a raw sound overall. German outfit Omegavortex mixes all kinds of extreme metal to be as nasty as possible, and they will never stop.

Tourist – Music Is Invisible

December 5 // Atlantic

If you’re into trance for whatever reason, check out Tourist‘s beautiful new album, Music Is Invisible. Make no mistake: if trance isn’t your thing, this album won’t change your mind. But if you want to dance like Jon Hamm in a club, this could be your soundtrack.

HAYWARDxDÄLEK – HAYWARDxDÄLEK

December 5 // Relapse Records

Everything Dälek touches is interesting, and their collaboration with Charles Hayward (This Heat) is no exception. In fact, it might be one of their best works to date. As usual, Dälek‘s work is unapologetically abrasive and bold. It’s abstract hip-hop at its darkest and most industrial.

ONLY – EYES WIDE OPEN

December 5 // Independent

Skramz never stops, and thank god for that. ONLY is a Berlin-based quartet which sounds very Southern Europe (aka Spain/Italy) kind of skramz, which I’m all here for. Those guys wear their hardcore roots on their sleeves, and the energy on EYES WIDE OPEN is relentless.

VP – COSMOSIS

December 5 // Independent

There’s quite an interesting mix of influences here. VP is an Australian/Vietnamese artist currently based in Paris who also happens to be an evolutionary biologist. The biological aspect is prevalent in COSMOSIS, as a large portion of the sounds used on this album are based on flora and fauna. It’s a really immersive and contemplative experience.

ambretta – Ephemeral

December 10 // Independent

Did I mention how skramz never stops? IT NEVER STOPS! ambretta is a young trio from Arizona and they slap. This is a more blackened approach to skramz, with sprinkles of early Infant Island here and there.

Health – Conflict DLC

December 11 // Loma Vista Recordings

I was never a big fan of HEALTH because I generally don’t like industrial music. Luckily, the CONFLICT DLC feels more like noise rock to me, a genre I really enjoy, so here I am, enjoying this new album by a band I never liked before. Be curious, not judgmental.

Orange and Mountains – Pareti

December 12 // Polysonica

I loved Orange and Mountains‘ previous album, Drawers, back in 2021. Their tender electronica, with notes of modern classical and ambient music, captures a soothing warmth and an organic feel, which is rare among electronica artists. If your daily routine becomes too overwhelming, listening to this album is an excellent way to clear your mind.

Bandcamp

Fleshvessel – Obstinacy: Sisyphean Dreams Unfolded

December 12 // I, The Voidhanger Records

I’m sure this would have made many AOTY lists if it hadn’t been released so late — it nearly made ours. This is artsy metal at its finest, remaining brutally devastating and creatively exceptional. Fleshvessel is lauded, and I, The Voidhanger strikes again.

Conway the Machine – You Can’t Kill God With Bullets

December 12 // Roc Nation

God Don’t Make Mistakes remains Conway‘s strongest album, but this one is a close second. A December release kills a lot of buzz, but this is one of the hip-hop albums I enjoyed most in 2025. Griselda fans were well taken care of in 2025.

Hierophany – Tenebrario

December 12 // Serpent Sun Records

B.G., a Mexican artist, is best known for his band Black Hate (among countless other projects), but Hierophany might be his best work yet. This abrasive black metal album delivers incredibly strong songs with a tight but vibrant sound.

Material Girl – Vendetta

December 12 // No Agreements

Material Girl first appeared on my radar in 2020 with their debut album, Tangram, which ended up being one of my favorite albums of all time. Vendetta, the project’s newest EP, is full of abstract hip-hop and experimental electronica.

Thëm – Ciò Che Resta Di Me

December 12 // Overdub Recordings

Italy is an excellent breeding ground for skramz, and THËM is a prime example of that late in the year. Their new album is filled with great energy, and their modern vibe and post-hardcore influences remind me of Birds in Row, one of the highest praises in that genre.

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith – Thoughts On The Future

December 19 // Nettwerk

If you’re not excited about everything Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith releases, what’s wrong with you? Just kidding! Seriously though, this is fantastic material, even compared to their amazing last album, GUSH!

Mathew Lee Cothran – The Honey House Is Empty Now

December 20 // Independent

It’s very strange, yet charming. The time between years is reserved for the weirdest stuff, since most conventional artists avoid this release window — the outsiders really shine. This magical twilight hour features an overwhelming number of lyrics about furries and anime girls on album art. While Matthew Lee Cothran is neither of those, his music is outsider pop at its finest.

honoka – 花咲く丘の子供たち Children of the Blooming Hill

December 24 // Independent

Released on Christmas Eve and with an anime girl on the cover – that’s when the magic happens. This is very beautiful J-Rock with gazey math rock vibes.
