As I write this, it’s late over here in America. Stars adorn the sky above me, there’s a biting chill in the air as we enter autumn proper, and everything feels right. What better music to soundtrack a time like this than deliberate, spacey, and psyched-out rock? That’s precisely what Germany’s Pavallion have on deck for you and me. Returning with a new album on October 26 called Stratospheria, their atmospheric blend of post-rock, psychedelia, and a pinch of stoner is a delight. Today, we premiere a neat track from that album entitled “Monolith” and it’s just as massive as the name implies.
Rattling riffs and echoing percussion starts off the track. It’s slow at first, but it quickly grows into a sweet groove that acts as the guiding line for this star tour of a song. Monotone, foreboding vocals punctuate the mysterious mood developed by the instrumentation and before you know it, you realize this journey may have more in store for you. I won’t spoil all of the fun; take a listen for yourself!
I love the tone of this track, and the vocals are off-putting, complementing the season of spooky we find ourselves hurtling toward without regard for much else. I wanna hear more, and as I said before, we don’t have to wait much longer! October 26 sees the release of Stratospheria on Tonzonen Records. Check out the short, but likely meaty, tracklist and album art:
