Sugar Horse have been one of the most creative and interesting forces in post-metal for a while with their self-deprecating idiosyncrasies, unconventional song titles, and general sense of whimsy. Their blend of psychedelic sensibilities works perfectly with the aforementioned presentation of the band and as time has passed from their debut they’ve grown more and more experimental as the years have passed with their most recent LP The Long Live After seeing them reaching for new ideas and confidently smashing every single one of them.
After a string of new songs from their upcoming LP The Grand Scheme of Things for Pelagic Records, we’re proud that Sugar Horse and their new label home have decided to team up with us for the premiere of their brand new track “Office Job Simulator”. Check out this brand new song and video below!
If there’s one thing that you can expect from a Sugar Horse song, it’s dynamics and this track holds true to that trend. After that airy beginning and those melodic vocal lines, the demolition crew arrives and starts ripping at the seams of this new tapestry. By the end of this song the beauty has returned and fades out as mysteriously as it entered. This is the sort of thing that makes me personally love Sugar Horse is that their brand of dissonance often comes through the composition as well as the notes played. Each song from this act as its own little world and has plenty of nooks and crannies to explore.
The Grand Scheme of Things is coming later this year on Pelagic Records, a label where they truly fit and belong. Be sure to head over to their Bandcamp and get your pre-orders in and give the band a like and follow over on Facebook and Instagram to keep an eye open for more music and announcements about forthcoming record and all of their goings on. While you’re at it, pick up The Long Live After as well. New music from Sugar Horse is always an exciting thing and “Office Job Simulator” is no exception.
