The middle of the working week for most calls for a pick-me-up, something to help take us one step closer to the weekend, and Private Agenda want to do just that. Private Agenda is Sean Phillips and Martin Aggrowe, a London/Berlin-based duo with a burning desire to incorporate a broad range of musical tastes into their songwriting. With their sophomore album A Mannequin due for release April 29, the act have already teased us with the well-received “Neo-Nostalgia”. Keen to strike while the iron is hot, the pairing are ready to release follow-up single “Dressed in Velvet”, which we are delighted to premiere for you right here at Everything Is Noise.
“Dressed in Velvet” is as relaxed a disco-pop release as you are likely to hear this year. A synthesiser provides a brief introduction to the track, before electronic beats and a funky bassline set the tone early. Brief electric piano interludes complement the soft vocal delivery, with arpeggiated synthesisers sitting neatly alongside the already tight rhythm section. There is comfort to be found in here, Private Agenda somehow managing to have us wanting to turn the lights off, relax, and turn the disco lights on for a dance all at the same time.
With two tracks from the upcoming album now out there for all to hear, you can begin to get a feel for the catchy pop music that will be found within. A Mannequin will be making its way into the world both physically and digitally via Lo Recordings on April 29 2022 and is available for pre-order right here. In the meantime, make sure to visit their Bandcamp, Facebook and Instagram pages to keep up to date with all Private Agenda news.
