Residents of Austria, listen up! There is a huge wave of fuzzy goodness hitting you as Italy-based stoner & fuzz festival HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS FEST will settle in the colorful old city of Innsbruck in Austria during the 15th & 16th of November. The festival will take place at two different locations: the first day will happen at P.M.K, a small, intimate club near the central station while the second day will be held at the VAZ Hafen Innsbruck, which definitely is the bigger and more modern but also the less charming location.
Musically, the festival offers quite a lot of diversity. So here are some of the highlights you should keep an eye out for:
French-based hard rockers The Necromancers will kick off the festival with their riffy tunes on Thursday. I’d like to point out that the vocalist alone is definitely worth catching these guys! Definitely a band you shouldn’t miss if you’re a fan of catchy 80’s hard rock.
Closing the first day of HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS FEST, beloved Polish outfit Belzebong will serenade you to sleep with their crushingly heavy formula of instrumental stoner-doom. This is surely going be one intense experience!
After day one ends with a bang, the second will start a whole lot more relaxing. The Sonic Dawn will smoothly get you ready for a day full of great music with their psycheledic rock jams. Their organic sound, dancing basslines and the cozy 60’s vibe will surely be a great way to get started!
Also playing on day two, the Italian trio Black Rainbows will hit you with their explosive brew of insanely groovy stoner rock. At parts even reminiscent of the mighty Wolfmother, these guys will definitely make you bang your head!
Last but not least, playing the last set of the festival, a legend will make his appearance: Brant Bjork, mostly known for his drum work in the well-known bands Kyuss and Fu Manchu will play his lovely heavy psych/stoner rock tunes for the masses. His recently released album Mankind Woman is a perfect hybrid of fuzzy, groovy riffs, bluesy interludes and Bjork’s unique voice. What a way to end these two days of fuzz!
So yeah, if you’re living in or around Innsbruck, make sure to catch this pretty cool festival! Apart from hosting these bands, Innsbruck is one of the most beautiful cities of Austria, so it will be definitely worth considering the trip there!
