Macelleria Mobile di Mezzanotte Bring Dark Vibes with New Album “Noir Jazz Femdom”

Macelleria Mobile di Mezzanotte are a band from Rome, Italy. They are comprised of Adriano Vincenti handling drones, sound morphing, and vocals; Lorenzo Macinanti on synthetizers, drums, and production; saxophonist Pierluigi Ferro; and Riccardo Chiaretti also on synthetizers. They have been active for two decades now and with a solid repertoire behind them they are now ready to release their newest creation.

Noir Jazz Femdom is this newest creation and it’s due to release on November 29 via Subsound Records. Macelleria Mobile di Mezzanotte create quite a unique blend of sounds that can’t be immediately likened to anything in particular. They blend together eerie ambient soundscapes, ominous yet lightweight drones, and various electronic tinges on top of a jazzy bedrock. The whole sonic blend is slathered in a noir aesthetic which is as soothing as it is disconcerting. While it could be said that this noir jazz/dark ambient segment of music has already been fully exploited, Macelleria Mobile di Mezzanotte manage to somehow reach into some sort of depths to unearth fresh sounds. I couldn’t exactly pinpoint as to what is it about their tunes that makes the whole blend sound authentic and original.

Noir Jazz Femdom runs for nearly thirty-five minutes split through six songs, and while that may not sound like much, it is a fully immersive experience. In spite of its sparsely packed musical delivery, there is a whole lot that is conveyed by means of texture and tonal shifts. “Noir Jazz Femdom”, the title track, probably encompasses best what the whole record is about, showcasing in equal measures all the present hallmarks and strengths with class. While most of the record seems to go about in a certain direction that is well-contoured, the closing song “Methadrome” seems to break away a little, aiming for something of a more noisy and ethereal glow in its first half and a dreamy, spacey vibe in the latter half. I find this a very nice way of closing the whole deal, creating something of a drifter that feels like evaporating into the cosmic nether.

‘Noir Jazz Femdom is a dark album that closes a circle that began 20 years ago.

A story of obsession and morbid dreams we started with our first record, “Profilo Ottimale dele Ferite” (Perfect Profile of Wounds) and today it comes to an end. 

From the beginning we wanted to tell the stories of a forgotten province of auto-eroticism, morbid passion and voyeurism and the new record goes back to that point, digging into our subconscious of adult men now in their forties.

After “Hiver Noir” we wanted to make another dark ambient and minimal record. 

Unintentionally, the stylistic direction changed while we were writing the music. We realized that it would be a much more morbid record than the last. More noise, darker and heavier.

Finally we got back to where it all started: raw industrial obsessive noises and feral voices.

We asked Paolo Bandera of Sigillum S (industrial cult band active since the 80s) and Fabrizio Giannese of Aborym (inventors of an incredible mix of black metal and industrial) to help us complete the work with their vision. 

We are very satisfied with how the 6 tracks of NJF sound. 

Six tracks and six different sound fragments, reminiscent of library music, industrial, ambient, power electronics and doom jazz.’

In short, don’t miss out on this when it drops if you’re looking for any of the things I mentioned above. This is a classic example of a great band that is criminally underrated and needs to reach out to those who appreciate this kind of musical manifestation.
