We’re living in chaotic times, friends, and sometimes we really just need a helping of filthy, noisy music to push us along. And ladies, gentleman, and otherwise, today we’re getting just that from Bacon Wagon. Hailing from Sweden, and featuring Marcus and Kristoffer Kinberg of Acid Ape and Peter Johansson of Instrumen, the band formed in 2003 to release a couple EPs and splits before a lengthy hiatus. Freshly reformed, the band is back in action, and we here at Everything Is Noise are proud to premiere their debut album Trauma Cake through Reptilian Records ahead of its official release on June 6, 2025!

Trauma Cake has been a long time coming for the band, but the oscillating feedback and stomping riff that kicks off opener “Tar Salad” makes for a warm, filthy welcome. Across the album, listeners can expect brash, punchy punk riffs with a undercurrent of doomy trudge, tons of groove, and feedback aplenty. Because why would you want a comfy listen from a band called Bacon Wagon, anyway? I’ll even leave it to the band themselves to explain their vibe, via their Bandcamp:

Crackling with the expected caustic noise rock snarl and a filthy edge of tongue-in-cheek snark, Trauma Cake slaps the listener with ten ripping ragers fueled with punk energy and fuzz galore. One can picture the band members slyly cranking these dirges out amidst stacks of blown-out amps pumping forth plumes of blackened fumes while a cast of buzzed patrons light themselves aflame while slow-motion crowd-surfing.

Strong words indeed, but Bacon Wagon proves time and again that they can back that those claims up across the album. Myself, I was particularly gripped by the snappy energy behind “Gauntlet” and the uneasy doom the fuels “Honey! (I’m Home)”, but Bacon Wagon‘s not going to leave you lacking for chunky guitar, great basslines, and crashing drums even once. It’s brash, it’s bold, and it’s well worth a couple spins for anyone who likes their rock and punk punchy, noisy, and grimy.

If the premiere above tickles your fancy, vinyl will be on sale though Reptilian Records or Bandcamp. And while you’re at it, why not give them a follow on Instagram? Hop on in, the filth is feelin’ fine!
