Spring is giving way to summer in many parts of the world, and France is no exception. Bordeaux band PAST are out in full gloom with their latest song, “Seuls” – and boy does it smell sweet. Craving the scent of reverb-laden lamentations mixed with vivid, musical melancholy? Then look no further; today, Everything Is Noise has you covered, with the exclusive premiere of the track and its official live video!

The eagle-eyed among you will no doubt recognise PAST as our most recent Weekly Featured Artist. The article is highly worth checking out if you haven’t encountered the trio before, or are unsure whether this is your cup of tea. But trust me, you’re reading this on a website called Everything Is Noise: it definitely is, so drink up.

The group bring “Seuls” fresh from their European tour of the same name with support act Ssanahtes. The titular track of their upcoming EP serves up a solid slice of post-rock-infused hardcore. A relentless bassline underpins intricate drumming, with shifting timings that quickly launch the song from its openings moments into a sonic frenzy that keeps on pushing until its final breath. This combines beautifully with the soaring dissonance of the guitars and raw, melodic anger of the vocals.

Shot on location at their gig in Bulle, Switzerland, the video complements the song incredibly well. The band tease at what to expect from a PAST live show, interspersed with trippy, mirror-image-style shots. All of this is drenched in a suitably nocturnal hue of blue and purple for added vibrancy. It takes an enjoyable song and makes the visual experience equally engaging.

Having now completed their current tour, PAST will no doubt be turning their focus to putting the finishing touches on the new EP. Seuls is expected to drop sometime later this year, with no confirmed arrival date as of yet. In the meantime, for any and all updates, be sure to follow them on Facebook, Bandcamp, and Instagram.
