Will Jinjer ever rest? It doesn’t look like it! Ukraine’s finest metal band will be back in North America soon. In late July they revealed their plans to produce a new EP in September. As Blabbermouth reported, said new EP is going to be a ‘progressive’ one, the band stating that they can’t play the same songs over and over again anymore. Regarding this upcoming output, Eugene Abdiukhanov (bass) also said the following:

And we agreed that we will make an EP (…) four or five songs, absolutely brand new. It will be a different direction, it will be a different approach, but still JINJER. It’s gonna be progressive.’

It’s already been two years since the release of King Of Everything, and Jinjer toured heavily with big names like Arch Enemy in support of it. Who knows which direction their new music will take. Fans of their music already know about their technical abilities and skilled songwriting. With King Of Everything‘s ‘title track’ “Beggar’s Dance”, they even presented a jazzy, vocal-driven ballad that stands out against the usual metal sound of Jinjer.

In stating that the new EP is gonna be (more) progressive, the band show their will to not become a scene- or profit-orientated band. But given how broad the term ‘progressive’ is, this basically means nothing. To learn more about progressive music and the corresponding genre denominator, you should definitely check out our editor Tyler’s latest feature. As he states:

(…) progressive music epitomizes the idea of synthesizing elements (as discussed in part one) more so than any other genre, until the core of what it is cannot be defined by its individual pieces.

To find out what exactly Jinjer‘s interpretation of the term is, we’ll have to wait for their new EP to drop. Until then, check out their upcoming tour dates below.
